Tuyp Tran
Tuyp Tran (b. 1988, Vietnam) is a self-trained artist, whose intricate pen and ink drawings provoke a colourful journey into the human psyche. He uses symbolic motifs to confront the contradictions and desires of the mind, repackaging them in inviting and allegorical imagery. Tuyp’s work often raises questions through the visual exploration of sensuous, religious, political and scientific narratives. Appearing both spontaneous and hyper-controlled, it has a lyrical aesthetic, where his painstaking process creates cryptic patterns and protruding shapes that imbues his works with agitation and movement. Tuyp is the founder of fashion label Psyche and has twice held solo shows at MoT+++, in 2016 and 2017.
